May 30: Your favourite photo of the week from around the world

It's from right here in Melbourne from the local newspaper.

This is baby John, born at just 395grams at 26 weeks gestation, today he went home. After 165 days of dedicated expert care from the nursing staff, this family is finally spending the night together.

Can you imagine their excitement...and how slowly they drove home from the hospital.

  The full story is here.

  2. Amazing. My parents lost their first daughter who was born at 27 weeks. Back in the seventies there was absolutely nothing to do but pray. I often wonder how my mum feels when she sees these stories. Little miracles. Some little people are just meant to be here. I wonder what little John will grow up to do?

  4. Well, not only do we like the same babies' names, but out of all the photos on your phone for the week, and all the photos on mine, and all the ones on the net, we've chosen the same one. With our 634g baby and the emotions I felt bringing her home from the hospital this article has been with me since I read it. I knew it was going to be this photo or one from the article I saw on saving prems in the Time magazine. I know you do a lot for prems and would see a lot in your field, so it's no wonder it hit a nerve for you too. How funny. Weird funny.
