Do we know each other?

Totally random photo of Immy dancing all the way to school pick up.

Last week someone asked Mr H if his wife was a blogger. As he is a silent partner in this blogging thing and terrified of social media he was a bit caught out. But they had recognised him in a post.

We had a conversation where he asked me "Who actually reads your blog?'

My answer is simple. "I don't really know".

This is what I do know - I know there are just under 500 of you that get me in an email or your reader, and that you hardly ever click out of those emails to come and comment - you send me emails (which I love) or text me, you send me messages on Instagram and on facebook and if you are a blogger we have likely chatted on twitter.

But I don't really know much about you all. If this was a work project and I didn't have any idea of my target audience I would be pretty annoyed, but I guess as this is a selfish pursuit, where I get to write what, when and how I like, when it comes to readers I love anyone to read!

I love visiting other bloggers too - though I have been rather slack of late, I am getting back in to things and catching up all over the place.

So this weekend, I would love to know who is reading, who are you out there? Where are you from, how did you find me, do we cross paths in real life? What's the weather like where you are, I hope it is sunny! If you are a blogger please leave me a link to your blog so that I can come and say hello too.

  2. I'm not a subscriber but I'm a constant checker. I read most of your posts - sometimes in a glut if I've missed some. Sometimes each one as they come. We chat on twitter but I don't do many blog FB pages. Not sure how I found you........ Perhaps a comment on another blog and then a click through? I'm a tree changer out of Melbourne 7 years ago and blog at Ducks on the Dam. Family of 4 - Little Misses are 8&9. Yet to meet ANYONE from this blog world gig - although I was at a dinner with the Gourmet Girlfriend and had met Laney Crash Test Mummy as she is a friend of a friend but that was way before I knew she was a blog chick. Love your work. Unfortunately won't make the Grampians gig but would love to come to something similar another time.

  10. Can't remember how I came across your blog. I'm in Adelaide, and just having a quick check of blogs before I clean my teeth and take my son to cricket - it's 7.30am. Early Saturday morning start, and it looks like a stellar day outside.

  13. I can't remember how I first made my way here. I'm from sydney and the weather today is hot. I blog over at www.geeyourebrave.blogspot.com and I would live you to drop in and say hi

  14. I read you when you put a link on twitter, and sometimes on facebook if I happen to see it there first. I'm not sure what you know about me, I guess probably a fair bit (I hope, anyway). It was sunny where I was today, even if it was a little bit on the chilly side. I do love that you asked this question though (the one about your readers, though the weather is fun to know too). (I think you're in my reader too, but I never remember to check it, oops!) :)

If you'd like to pop by I'm at http://bookgrrl.wordpress.com I'm in Ballarat, where it was lovely and sunny today, but I also spend a fair bit of time in Geelong where my parents and sister live with her family.

  19. I'm reading. No idea how we found each other - Twitter? But I've been a reader for a long time. I don't read every day, but often. And we've chatted IRL. And you've even starred in one of my books. So, yeah, we know each other. :-)

But this is a fabulous post and a great idea. I might be having to steal it one day (with all appropriate links, of course). x

    1. Hi Al, starring in books is always a joy!

But I can't take full credit for this idea, I have seen it a number of times around the traps over the years in different forms but it was only when Mr H asked me the question that I thought - hey, I should ask.

  20. Cute pic! Pretty sure I would have found you via another blog. I've followed you for a while. Pop over whenever I notice a new post.

I only just jumped on the twitter bandwagon so we can start 140-character conversations!

I blog at You learn something new every day: http://emhawker.blogspot.com

And this is a great idea! x

  21. Hi Clairey, Immy, Pops, Mr H....I am Denyse. I love reading this blog and I have met your mum/wife a few times at Blogging thingys...you know where she goes and has a very boring time and can't wait to come home...that's true isnt it?

Anyway, on a more serious note, I actually love being on twitter with you Clairey..there are days and nights where we have chatted quite a while. You have been caring and considerate of mutual friends (I am thinking of a mum we know who had her child in hospital last year) and I love the way you can mix personal with professional.

I found you one very early morning asking "is anyone there" on twitter...and I said I was. You asked for the magic fairy dust that would help your dad..and I had none. All I had was words. I tried so much for the words to help. But I knew they wouldnt .Dad was passing away before you knew it...so sad...and I have memories of tweeting with you about returning to 'routine' after grieving so rawly...and there's no timeline... so gorgeous, thoughtful, wise and funny Clairey I am so pleased to know you.

    Love Denyse xxx

    1. What a beautiful message Denyse. Yes, I have found that twitter has been a quiet and calming and supportive place in the early hours of the morning when I am not sleeping. God knows what the rest of you are doing out there at 3am!

  22. Hey :) I know you both online and real life, I'd have you in my friends list x

  23. Hmmm, perhaps it was me who was the instigator of this post. I had been meaning to email you ages ago to say I think I knew Mr H but each time I did, I thought an email that included the line "I think I know your hubby" it just sounded way too wrong. I figured our paths would cross eventually and I could work it out in person. I have to say it was a very random encounter! Great to know you here and hopefully I will meet you eventually :-)
